Champion lifter Renu Chanu insulted by CWG organisers

It only happens in India. The CWG organising committee is too busy getting its act together in pleasing the foreign contingents that it forgot there are many Indian champions who also need attention. First, it was former athletes and now the current champions.
Renu Bala Chanu made India proud by winning the gold medal in the 58kg category and in the process she also set the new Commonwealth Games record. Renu lifted an overall 197kg, seven kg more than she achieved four years ago, to give India its first weightlifting gold of the Games after the hosts won two silver and two bronze medals Monday.
But, what does she get in return from the organisers? Insult and injury!
Renu had to wait at the competition venue for no less than four hours for a vehicle to go back to the Games Village and even after such a long wait, she couldn't get transport from the organisers. Distraught at the indifferent attitude, Renu decided to take an auto rickshaw to the Games Village.

'I even trained during nights for this day'
It was especially painful an experience for Renu as she had worked very hard to get to this feat and her post-match reaction before the oragnisers' bungle tells you a tale.

'I trained three times in a day for this gold. I trained during nights and never bothered about my sleep. It means a lot to me. Last time I had lifted very less and still won the gold. My aim was to lift as much as I can this time.'
This achievement means a lot to Renu and to India but certainly not for the organisers. This shocking incident has once again showed the organising committee in poor light. It may be recalled that many former athletes who brought name fame and glory to India had been cold-shouldered by the CWG OC before the start of the games when they were made to run from pillar to post just to get their accreditation for just watching the prestigious event.
Few would forget the treatment meted out to legendary sprinter PT Usha, who was not even invited for the opening ceremony. Usha was very upset at the shabby treatment to all the former athletes including herself, who had brought so much glory to the nation over the years.
